Well,
A) if you don't go by the Mfg recommendations for the engine oil, why do you ask? B)I believe the standard transmission fluid is Syn, maybe wrong. C) Why not just read and heed the Mfg recommendations in the freely available manual? If it is not in your glove box, then it is on this site somewhere or at the dealership or the Chevy website. Anyway, my point is that since you point out in your post that you do not believe the oil monitor, and you don't believe the trans service recommendations (never in normal service). Why then agonize over making up your own schedule? I don't mean to sound harsh, I've just had a bad day.:dancingcarrot::dancingcarrot::banannadance::s tirthepot: |
Automatic and Non SS Manual Transmissions use DEXRON-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid.
SS uses Manual Transmission Fluid (GM Part No. U.S. 88862472, in Canada 88862473). I believe this has an additive that makes is semi-synthetic. |

Welcome!! I wondered about the quoted post as far as 100000 miles winning the award for the most miles until I saw that it was from 2008....anyway, on what do you base the thought that the fluid level is low? Have you noticed any signs of leaking? The Jiffy Lube clown isn't quite right. They do need fluid; it's just that they are 'sealed' and can't be serviced in the 'normal' way in that you can't just 'top it off'. At 126K, even in normal (not severe) use, it's time to have that fluid and fliter changed (IMO). Transmission shop like AAMCO could do the for you and would cost less than the dealership.

Commendable, but I think you've missed the point; both that of the thread itself and of the particular quoted post.....
