Checking Coolant Level

When checking level either hot or cold what exactly does the full mark(s) look like. I have read the manual and searched the Threads on this Forum. I have seen the picture ChevyMgr posted of the reservoir bottle and I still have not found an answer to my question or seen what the marks look like. On the back of the reservoir(the side toward the firewall) there are two embossed pictures similar to what is on the lid...are these the full hot and full cold marks? On the lower of the 2 pictures there is a line that goes straight down to I do not know where because you would have to have a head the size of a baseball or smaller to get it down there to see anything. I also saw the post with the blue tape on the side of the reservoir and that is approximately where I filled my reservoir level. But I would still like to know what the marks look like and exactly where there. I hope I don't have to pull the reservoir out just to see. AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HOW TO CHECK THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID. I know you can't...what kind of deal is that?

there are two embosed pictures on the drivers side of the overflow bottle visible from the drivers side looking down under the throttle body tube on my 2007 2.2 litre LS, I fill to between these marks.

on mine, I raised the coolant level by 1-1/2" higher, & marked the jug with a black sharpie on the pass side, so I can see it very easily.

Plus it gives the jug more reserve.. & of course I tested it & the level has never gotten within 3" of the top in the summer & running it hard..

Make life easier on yerself..

2.0L Coolant Tank Level Point

Here's what the coolant tank looks like on the 2.0L motor. The manual says that the level when cold should be at the bulge on the rear side of the tank as the arrow indicates. A few of the guys are keeping it an inch or two above that (I do) and have no problems. This is a 2010 SS, if your tank looks the same, you have your answer.

Thumbs up Thanks

Thank you very much for the picture. I looked at the book and couldn't make heads for tails of their drawing and seriously couldn't figure it should be that hard to check the coolant level. I appreciate it.

The real object is to make sure that you can see coolant in the reservoir. The diff between hot and cold is about 3 inches. Do Not let it go empty!!!!

It's one of those "between the marks is good, don't sweat the exact position" things.
