Great help

Thanks to the great instructions and the pics. I probably never would have figured it out. Actually I would have, because it would have become a mission. Of course it would have taken two days or so. This is what makes this forum so good. The people. Thanks again from a new 2007 HHR owner.

Dang, that IS a ridiculous amount of work to R&R an air filter.

Thanks! Came in handy.

Thanks for the great How-To!

I just put in the K&N filter. I had read this one some months back, but wasn't sure about the one grommet in the front (whether or not to unscrew the torx screw there). But after reading this it was quite clear. I just tugged a bit harder and off it came. Can't wait to see how it helps the MPG. Not that the HHR is bad to begin with.

filter change

Thank you so much for the guide to remove that abortion on top of the engine that hold the filter! I wonder what the dealer charges to do that procedure. I would still be out there trying to figure out how to get that thing out.:thumb:

I used two steps.

Step 1. Remove this, and throw it as far as you can.
Attachment 37399

Step 2. Replace with this.

Yes...many of us have. IT IS VERY EASY.....depending on what you keep in your glove box. There is a thread here for that, as well as a description in the Owners Manual.....which should be in the mentioned glove box.

Just did first filter change, Thanks for the instructions.

One note, a little Simple Green or similar on the filter housing grommets and she slides back on nice and easy. It dries up so won't slip off unintentionally.

Next time this will be a quick check/change. I was going to put in a K&N Cold Air Intake, but from what I've read here, it's not worth the $$.
