Update: Just got back home to Ocala Natl Forest averaging about 60 mpg on secondary roads. MPG average on dash-36.5

If you remove the throttle body , do not move the throttle plate manually, the little plastic gears can be stripped and destroyed very easily.
Use the correct throttle body cleaner not brake or carburetor spray. The wire connections are finicky, leave it connected and move the throttle body very carefully while cleaning it. |
Thanks for the info. Maybe since im getting 35 to 36 mpg at 60 mph I shouldn't mess with the throttle body anyway. 😁
|
I wouldn’t.
|
Dirty throttle body has more to do with the butterfly sticking than MPG. Throttle body only looks like a carburetor.

"If it ain't broken don't fix it" 😁

Ive read on other posts here that if the cold air intake tube is too big on a custom cai system it will throw a code. So my reasoning says that if the cai tube is broken open too much air is getting in and causing a code.
|
Don't count on it. Oiled filters, yes.
|
I’ve got an aftermarket CAI, and lightly oiled air filter. No codes.

Having a severely damaged wooly worm would raise intake air temperature, not sure, but maybe could cause a code. But having a larger intake hose, being before the MAF sensor, should not cause any codes.
