Dex cool or reg coolant

Dex cool or reg coolant

i been told that dex cool is bad and that i need to change my coolent to reg coolent is this ok to do ?????

dexcool is made for GM vehicles, why would it be bad?

Instead of rehashing all the do's and don't's, use the SEARCH function at the top right of the page. Insert the word Dexcool (one word) and take your pick of any of the 30 or 40 threads covering the subject. In fact, read them all. You shouldn't have any questions after that

2 GM's one has 140K + and the other has just over 70K miles and both have Dex-cool with ZERO issues.

I would use care on reading up on this topic as there is a lot of misunderstood info and a lot of false info out there on the topic.

The simple answer here is to learn the proper care and use of the Dexcool and stick with it. Many people who have had issues with it have generally done something wrong that causes issues.

Dexcool just takes a little more care for a longer life coolant and it is in millions of cars where only a few have had issues. There should be no fear of it just learning. It is not Prestone and should not be treated as such.

Just watch for the false info out there as there is more false info vs accurate.

Dex-cool our 2003 Sunfire GT 290,000 miles no issues in the ten years of service, still has original T-stat, 2007 HHR LS 108,000 miles no issues what so ever with the coolant. stick with the coolant designed for your engine and rad, the bad reviews are misinformed .

You should have a coolant flush with fresh dexcool every 5 years or 150k miles. But it can go longer.
