Do you wash your car if you know it will rain soon?

Ok, so I seem to run into this dilemma a lot, especially now in the spring:

If you know rain is in the forecast, but your car needs a wash, do you still wash it?

Right now my hhr is filthy. We seem to have a lot of dust in the air, along with showers every other day, mud splatters from a large puddle at softball, and bugs everywhere.

I want to wash it, most likely take it to the car wash for now, since I have a pass for a wash, and i hurt my leg so i can't do the motions of washing it myself. BUT, it rained thursday, Forecasted to rain this afternoon, sunny tomorrow, rain the next day, and so on... I hate spending $10 for a wash (it's a pre paid pass, so i did pay for it, now free) and then it looking like crap 1 or 2 days later.

I know it will eventually rain/and or get dirty again, but I would like it to look nice for a little while. I have a car port at home but i park outside on the street for work.

I personally wait, been waiting for 2 weeks, hope to be getting it washed this week. No point in spending the money to have to spent it again and again

I wash my car every week at least no matter if its going to rain the next day. Obviously i wont do it while its raining. With all of the abrasives that are out there i like to get them cleaned off my car, especially brake dust.

drought , until hhr

we have been in a drought for years , until i got my hhr...now it rains all the time...this is no joke , for real...we are officially not in a drought for the first time in years...i have to wash 2 or 3 times a week ...i don't like bug guts sitting on my paint and chrome....i get loaded with bugs everyday...yesterday they said no rain until next week...i wash...then a storm comes thru...i allways wanted to open my own carwash....i need 1 now just to keep my own clean...they just closed a car wash in my town that had been here for about 40 years , they said it was due to the economy and the drought....lots of times you have to wait in line at many of the many diy car washes here....it is funny to me to see people with dents and bald tires , but the car is spotless.

I'm on a weekly detail schedule. They come out to my property and wash/detail my HHR every Thursday, rain or shine (along with 6-8 other vehicles). Every 6 months, they wash and wax my 33' motorhome, if it's there.

If Dory is dirty and needs a true bath, I don't care when the next forecast of rain is, she gets one. Waxing on the other hand will wait till the threat of rain is over.

I do all the time, the other day I was still drying when the raindrops started to fall. My rule of thinking is IF I don't wash it, it WON'T rain!! If I do and it rains, what have I lost, a little time, soap and water?

well i was running errands and happened to be right by the carwash, so i decided to run it through. Went through twice because they didn't get the top that good and had a few bug marks on the front still.

Stopped at Lowes after and it was sprinkling just a bit when i got out of the store. Figures!

But at least it is shiny now. I need to wax and detail sometimes soon, but i want to claybar it first too...

However I did notice a bunch of stone chips on the front now, AND a slight scuff on the front where this A$$HOLE basically parked me in last week and was literally a front from my bumper. Didn't notice anything then because of the dirt, but I can see it now... Not happy about either of those...
