Front Brake Pads & Rotors & New Front Tires
 

Hello, I visited VanDevere Chevrolet in Akron, OH where I purchased my 2010 HHR LS for an oil change & cabin filter change back on 5/4/13 and they recommended replacing the front brake pads and rotors and said the estimate would be about $300 for the AC Delco rotors & pads including labor. They said the labor if I went and got my own rotors & pads would be $119.

Have any of you ever used this brake pad & rotor kit and any feedback? I know I don't have an super high performance HHR or anything but it looks like on their site they want $171.90 /kit and Free Shipping so if I got the kit and had them put them on it would be about close to the same estimate they gave me that I mentioned in the beginning. Also they recommended replacing the 2 front tires, they said the back ones looked ok. I thought I saw a thread on here about the General AltiMAX HP Passenger Performance Tire 215/55R16 http://www.walmart.com/ip/General-Al...00000027727770 saying it was a pretty good affordable all season performance tire? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

You can get Premium quality rotors & Pads @ Napa auto parts, for much less.

Install is so simple. Plenty of "how to's" here, using the search function.

the brakes are down to $169.05 on sale on the site you posted, just 45 minutes to an hour to change the pads and rotors, they are very easy to change out, as for the tires, that depends on your driving and ride preference and wallet

I remember another member wrote up something stating to stay away from drilled rotors.
But the Feedback on these seem to be very good.

I have the slotted rotors, only issue is , nobody with a brake lathe will turn them, as the slots mess up the cutter tool in the lathe, apparently

probably have to take them to a machine shop and have them take a stone to it like when they redo a flywheel...

awhile back had to do front brakes. went to advance auto parts. picked up wearever rotors and pads....cheap. been on for at least 1.5 years....no problems. and, the job was super simple........just make sure to use the proper brake lube in the right spots..........

rockauto has them for 135.00

Wound up having the dealer put new GM front rotors & pads on, had a $25 off service coupon which pretty much covered the taxes, came out to about $320

I routinely put pads on my HHR, like twice a year on account of at least 70,000 miles a year. Go to Ebay ceramic pads for around $25.00, rotors around $20 each. For a daily driver they are just great. KEEP YOUR REAR BRAKES ADJUSTED!!!!!!!
