Fuel Range Issues

Merry Christmas y'all 🎅 🌲 🤶

For about a week my fuel range indicator has been way off. When I fill the tank it indicates 365-375 miles left. Then fluctuates the entire time. It usually starts off around 420 miles.

I bet it goes way down when you are sitting at stop lights and when accelerating when going up hills. Like when your MPG goes really low.

I have not seen fluctuations like that yet.

It is based on the amount of metered air being consumed at any given second. If you are accelerating more air is being induced therefore fewer MPG therefore fewer miles to go. It varies radically, not meant to be constantly monitored.
Uless you have a hole in the tank or puddles of gas, relax.

Yes, the fuel range can be very misleading, on a long highway run, I would try to calculate fuel stops, they never worked out, because of hills and traffic, valleys and construction, not very accurate, as it would be on straight flat roads.

2 useless things that were included in the DIC readouts. The miles left and the instant MPG's. Oh yeah. And maybe the Avg. miles per hour.

Enquiring minds want to know!
Personally I’m good with just the speedometer and radio.

In the 10 months of owning this car...it has never done this radic variation...since my odometer doesn't work...this is the only way I know how much I've driven on a tank of gas. My MPG is lower now and I feel that the fuel range is the culprit.

I'm not stressed out by this latest quirk. Just checking to see of anyone else encountered this previously.

I personally think my average speed is low. I drive mostly highway. 43 mph is child's play.

I love the fact I can plug my phone into the AUX and listen to whatever I wanted!
