:welcomewagon: to the forums!

What codes are you getting? P0300 and/or P0302? Or something else?

What did the plugs look like?

firemangeorge Feb 11, 2025 09:54 PM

And what did the coil cap look like on cyl #2 ?

Bigge313 Feb 12, 2025 04:07 AM

Only.code is p0302. Plugs looked ok i changed them and all coils along with injectors and I still have the code I cleared it and it comes back every 100 miles or so.

Oil in #2 spark plug hole? A leaking valve cover gasket

Bigge313 Feb 16, 2025 08:51 AM

Ok so i figured out why #2 looked that way. Turns out the plug was not seated all the way down. There was a load of carbon build up preventing plug from threading in. After I pulled the head I noticed the spark plug was sticking at least a 1/2 higher that the other 3. I cleaned the threads with a tap and now plug is in correctly. Threads cleaned out perfectly or I would have put in a helicoil but no need. Now I think I might need to replace the piston rings. After I put everything together my compression is 150 125 180 180. Dry. 190 190 210 210. Wet

BTW bought car 3 years ago. This is the first I've had plugs out so it was previous to me that the plug did not seat. Been daily drivng (60 miles a day) it for 3 years and no issues until #2 cylinder misfire. Would the rings cause the misfire?

More likely slightly bent valves , did you inspect them, possibly burnt exhaust valves, maybe it’s just me but when I have the head off for a new head gasket I always go proactive and install new valves and gently hand lap them, why do the job twice. Just my experience.

If you think the rings are sticking in that cylinder, you could try dropping in a teaspoon of ATF. Let sit for a few minutes. Spin the motor a turn or two. Let it sit for a couple days. Then give it a nice workout. Maybe some Seafoam in the oil.
