According to my compression numbers the rings are ok, but ten years old with a 1/4 million miles on them.

What compression results did you get?

I had a look with a boroscope, the intakes aren't caked like in the turbo engines, but the oil consumption killed my catalytic converter.
The test was last October after I changed the timing and balance shaft chains.
My oil isn't filling up the catch can, I did move the catchcan down and over to the engine lift loop by the upper engine mount.

Those are pretty darn good numbers. I know you had some oil in that tube, but maybe your cat was murdered by oil getting past the guides(or combination)?

OP may have much different compression results.

True, I believe I'm gonna be doing valve guide seals, this winter, that might ease the oil , but it's not getting past the catch can intake hose.
