I saw something similar about the Amazon basics oil, that said "basically" the same thing (pun intended :p )
its enough to convince me to try it out as my mazda needs an oil change and its higher mileage at 185k (HHR got one with timing, but I wasnt prepared so I had to buy it day of)

This doesn't surprise me. The reality is that so long as the right designations and approvals are on the bottle, "generic" full synthetic oil is just as good as the stuff people are willing to shell out a lot more for. I've been using generic full synthetic in my vehicles for a number of years now. I'll probably be switching soon to Amazon Basics.

There is a
Dexos approved version Dexos approved version
for only a little bit more money.

He made an interesting point about pre-detonation issues in small direct injected turbo charged engines. My wife's Buick Encore is in this class.

That said, Amazon Basics Full Synthetic is not available in Canada.

Neither is the full NetFlix!! Bummer!

We we are just discussing our preference for oil, it’s been well documented, many members use Mobil1, I use Castrol Edge full synthetic Dexos approved.
and Dan noted, Amazon oil is not in Canada eh! Pity!

I wouldn't worry about it much. It is just oil made by Warren. They make oil for other places, such as autozone. These tests are interesting, but real world applications will behave different. That's not to say you would go wrong with warren oil.
I've been using mobil-1 for years. As it has not failed, I'll likely not worry about having to order my oil online and waiting for delivery. Besides, you can go 100s of thousands of miles on cheap oil, as long as it meets requirements and gets changed as needed.

Says so on the back of the bottle

I never worry about anything I order online. Just like buying an oil and filter locally, I usually buy it in advance of the actual oil change anyway. And I have Prime so usually I get everything within 2 days anyway.

You're welcome. I knew I saw that somewhere on another car/truck forum. But I had to look again!
