P0010 Code...
 

At 83,000 miles, my 2011 HHR developed a CEL. I have a Scangauge II and found a P0010 code. After researching the code on the internet I found this is usually the intake Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve that needs replacement. I took it to my local mechanic who replaced it and charged me $59 for the solenoid and $160 labor for diagnosis and replacement of the sensor.

Now, after reading further, I find that I could have done the job myself in about 30 minutes. There are two sensors, one for the intake cam and one for the exhaust cam. I found the OEM GM parts on the internet for about $35 each, so I have ordered the exhaust sensor and will replace it as insurance. The sensors are located on top of the engine under the air cleaner cover. There are Youtube videos on replacing them. The job looks fairly simple. Hope this helps someone else save a little money. Yes, I should have taken the time to do a little more research. But, with the Thanksgiving Holiday, I needed the car fixed ASAP. Thanks for the info and the link. Very much appreciated.

Just saying the Mitchell flat rate is .7 hours to do both.

Those solenoids were actually my first vehicle repair ever and I must say it was very simple.
