Seafoam, Oil change, and Spark plug change today
This post is from February lol
The HHR was not noticeably different. My moms trailblazer had 96,000 miles on it. I did sea foam, throttle body cleaner, oil change, and spark plugs, and it ran like new after that

I want to do this on my 2.2L, is the intake tube vacuum line in the same location? If not, pic would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Sorry guys, I wouldn't use Seafoam on anything. Waste of money IMHO.
Spark plugs should be good for 100,000 miles plus. In the old days we had to clean the spark plugs every few thousand miles because the leaded gas would foul the plugs. The gas stations even had even had spark plug cleaning machines just for that.
But today with the unleaded gas the plugs do not carbon up. My mechanic told me. ....."don't worry about the plugs....put in new ones at 100,000 miles because if you wait too much longer you may have a devil of a time getting them out or even break them".
You can actually take them out them and put them back in. These companies are always coming up with miracle items that do nothing really.
Take out those plugs and look at them before an after Seaform. Color may go from black to white but the second you start your engine they turn black again.
I know I'll get some flak about this but you smart guys out there will know my old mechanic was right.

Ive heard different things before so im not gonna give ya flak. Ive heard it helps on older cars with the older style cats. Not so well on these newer ones, also ive heard different theories on how they work. So no flak from me, but thats not the first time ive heard that either.
Some people arent aware either that Shops will use Seafoam and other equivalent items to make you think something is wrong with your car! Seen this first hand at PepBoy in Mansfield.
What happened: Lady took her car in (i was there getting mine from alignment) she sat and waited. Well about 10 mins into it they told her come to window and said
"your engine had no oil in it, so we threw oil in it for you, but you must have fried something inside the motor or a seal, we will look for you. Just look out the window to see how much smoke the oil caused."
I got pissed, called em out on it and talked to the manager for her. Cant do that to people, really a single woman with kids who was prob in her 30s, just aint right.
Any ways. Ive heard the seafoam works good on 95 an older. These are the screened cats with chunk material. Older style ignition system w/ standard plugs and wires.
Another thing is if you use Copper Plated Spark plugs, seafoam will oxidize them to white, to the point not cleanable, hints why they dont fire up afterwards.

Yeah Swain..... good old American greed. Don't send your wife or your girlfriend to get the oil changed either. They will talk her into the full monte.
Thanks for the tip on '95 and older cars.

With all the smoke that came out of my SS, I know it wasn't a complete waste. But like I said, it really isn't running that much better. Definitely had build up though
