Sunroof won't close all the way, no vertical movement

It's a sordid tale, yet here goes. Someone (else!) had the wind deflector break, and appears they just ripped it off. Since then, the sunroof has not moved in the vertical direction. It will go all the way back, and all the way forward (horizontally), yet when it gets to the most-forward position, it just stops, and won't move up in the rear. So it appears stuck in a slanted position.

Also: if it's open, if you press the left button, it will go most of the way forward automatically, then stop just short of being closed. Then you have to use the right button to finish the horizontal motion, yet then it won't close up, in the rear. Opening to the rear ("pop-up") is in an unknown state.

We're to the point of figuring out how to get the sunroof closed, then pull the fuse so it can't be opened. Yet if there's a way to get it to act normal again, we're listening. Is there a sensor (magnetic?) that's been damaged, or did something get caught in the back and get sucked to the back of the sunroof, making the sunroof think it's closed?

Sounds like something is broken in the sunroof mechanisms. Only way to tell is to drop the headliner and take a look.

No, the sunroof doesn't "think" it's closed. No sensors in that regard. Only a reverse sensor on the electric motor. If, in closing it senses resistance, it will reverse and open back up.

I THINK someone once mentioned to recycle the sunroof again but hold the button in......it's kind of a reset. You might need to try it a couple of times. It worked on mine.

If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the negative battery cable (MAYBE).
