Transmission fluid change

I never performed one and decided to go to my expert mechanics. They used Dextron VI as needed but they did not seem to know whether they needed to put 6 or 7 litres. I think they opted for 6 litres.

Everything good or should I worry about something?

I don’t remember the exact figure, I think the guys will come and name it, but 6 liters is not enough ...
in general, there is a method for determining the fullness of the automatic transmission with liquid using an unscrewed bolt from the bottom of the automatic transmission case. You can find it here on the forum: "automatic transmission fluid level check" or something like that

So I should not wait and order some transmission fluid and perform that test with the plug?

It would suck because I paid about $250 for the service. :(

With a filter, 7 US quarts or 6.7 litres , so if they only put in 6 litres , the add 1/2 a litre, check at the plug.
it takes an 11 mm socket to remove it. I use an old pizza pan to catch any drips, check it on level surface, running in park or neutral wheels blocked front and rear.

BTW, that information is in the Owner Manual.

I certainly wouldn't qualify them as experts. They usually don't guess and hope for the best.:D

Yes they have double confirmed by email that they have put 6L.

So 1/2 litre is a huge difference that can lead to transmission damage right? I know nothing about transmission hence why I paid the big price to get pro mechanics do it for me.

What pros , they couldn’t google, 4T45E fluid capacity with a filter.

ScareDe2 May 15, 2022 10:13 PM

Can the plug test be done when the vehicule is on its jack or must it be perfectly level?

Oldblue May 16, 2022 06:55 AM

It should be level!
