Transmission Fluid change after 160,000 miles?

Good ol' Gregg is approaching 160,000 miles and does not have an AT fluid change/flush in his service records (yes my car is a guy don't judge). I looked through the forums and saw some mixed approaches to the "for life" lifetime of the fluid. I mostly do highway driving and certainly nothing that falls under sever conditions. My main concern here is that I have read horror stories with changing fluid this late in the game. So far I have zero shifting problems and no hesitation. Should I leave it be since I do not have any issues and the mileage is high? I just always had cars with a dipstick for the Tranny making monitoring lifespan easier. Many thanks and sorry for making a new thread on Tranny Fluid Change -_-

The horror stories involve flushing, not changing.

No flushes! But there's nothing wrong with changing the filter and fluid. Just done @ 138k on my trans.
