What weight Mobil 1 to use?

Gentlemen,
I've had my panel just a little over a year. It only has 5K on it so far. The oil indicator says 50%. Because I drive a lot of short trips, I feel like I should change the oil in it now to get all of the initial 'crud' flushed out. It seldom gets less than 32° where I live, up to 100° at times.
Sooo, what weight Mobile 1 oil should I use? I plan to change it every time it gets to 75% on the indicator from now on...

Note body color headlights & no front bumper 'tits'

Thanks for your input...

Mo-

I would stick to the 5-30 (as recommended) & using the M1

I change oil at least 1x a year, never longer than that, & Oil Filter of course also..

"Note body color headlights & no front bumper 'tits'"

Very Sharp !!!! :twothumbs:

Even though I feel this post will result in a debate on oil weights, I'd use exactly the weight specified by Chevrolet...5W-30. I switched my '07 over to Mobil 1 and I kept the same weight, the 2011 will be switched over too eventually. Good job on the bumper guard removal, nice and clean.

Regaurdless of how often you drive the car, changing at 75% is a bit extreme. If it only sees 5K a year in miles then change when the dic says 25%. I try to do mine at around 15%-20%, but its a daily driver.

5w-30 is what is recommended and most here agree its a good Idea to stick with it.
In the end remember its your car so do what you feel is best for it, unless your strickly told not to then I'd get a second opinion

Now I've went and got myself all confused as far as what %'s really mean. Does 25% mean that the oil is 25% 'used up' (worn out); or does it mean that you have 25% of its life still to go before changing???:duh:

Starts at 100% & as time & miles progress the percentage drops.

25% means that's what % is left till a change should be done.

I only use Mobil 1 full syn 5W-30 in my HHR..

That's where the price is best here, & I get mine. :twothumbs:

I make sure motor is fully heated, remove oil fill cap (so it can vent during draining).. Then pull the drain plug, I let it go 1/2 hour at least draining, & I always get a full 5 qts back in, & reads perfect on dip-stick, after a test-spin..

5w-30 as recommended...and in case some of you didn't know ALL 2011+ GM vehicles require a special synthetic oil called DEXOS
