Dracos.....

I think you misread the page. I believe you had read coolant capacity. I read 5 quarts, for the 2.4, in the 2011 Owners Manual (for that matter, in all the years of the HHR).

I also believe the dealer tech. made the same mistake....which is scary.

Oh, and have you checked the dip stick to determine if they had installed 8.5 quarts. If so, it needs to be drained to the 5 quart spec. Or you could have very serious problems.

There are about 9170 miles on it, and the tires were rotated in May about 1k ago. I just called the dealer to report the status, and they said either my tires need to be rotated or my tires are bad... sounds like BS to me.

Any insights out there? I'll be taking it back on monday.

I hate to say this, but I would not put my faith in a Chevrolet dealership when it comes to maintenance. I have only ever taken my cars to independent mechanics, or specialists in whatever the issue may be. I bought my 2006 LT with only 50,000 on it. Initially got the okay from my mechanic, but I took it in to a shop after a few weeks because I noticed the same pulling to the left. All 4 wheels were out of alignment, and one of them was wearing unevenly. I still maintain that the HHR is a great car, but I highly suggest going to somewhere like Tires Plus and buying a 3-5 year alignment package. It seems to be something that just requires being watched.

I'm pretty sure I read the oil capacity correctly. All the engine/tranny combinations were surprisingly high.

I just walked back from the service bay. The left front wheel is about 1/2" more to the rear than the right, so they think the lower control arm is out of shape. I've never hit anything with it, but it was a rental before I bought it.

Hmm, I did read the coolant capacity instead of the oil. Ok, back to being angry.

And you didn't answer the question regarding your car actually having the 8.5 quarts in it.

Again, it NEEDS TO BE DRAINED TO CORRECT CAPACITY, if that is the case.

Oh, and the dealership owes you a refund on the extra 3.5 quarts.:D

Nothing was dripping on me when I was under the lift, and no bottles in the interior.

Yes, they owe me a refund on 3.8 quarts.

Yeah, but... you don't want to drive it with all that extra oil in it - if they actually put it in there. Check the dipstick for vast overfill soon.

They probably started pumping the oil before the drain plug was reinstalled..then fixed and refill completed..then charged straight off the oil counter, without resetting it...

Whatever the reason, it's time for righteous indignation and fire and brimstone raining down upon the dealers head!!!!! That sort of incompetence cannot be allowed to continue.
