I listed the 2006 HHR in that list because that engine is sitting here on a shelf ready to go. I can build any Ecotec from 2000-2017, but I only have that 2.2 and a couple 2.4 direct injection engines ready and waiting.
They engine is $1300 us a good core. I will install it for an additional $500 including all fluids.
The 2.4 DI engines are about $2200 - $2900 depending on how many aftermarket parts you are comfortable with. All will have at least the updated GM pistons and rings to help combat the oil consumption issue. Exception being if block needs bored, then no GM pistons available in oversize. Installation is still $500.
All my engines include 12 month 12,000 mile warranty with proof of oil changes.
I have had a few people wish to help install to learn the ways, and that is fine too.
A "good" core means, no hole in block, not been overheated and warped block and head beyond milling/decking. Or crankshaft beyond repair.
The DI varient the Ecotec has only 2 camshaft options so it's easy for me to have those ready and waiting. Where as the 2.2 and 2.4 (non DI) have too many for me to have ready. So in those cases, I just need some notice to get my cores to the machine shop.
I cannot warranty engines used in offroad applications. Sorry but the few I have done with issues are due to oil starved parts. Sand dunes are not good for oil pickups. In those cases, I try and do the repairs as low cost as I can.
