Jayhawker...I don't mind it being a little away from the Speedway. Doesn't have to be anything fancy...we're just gonna sleep there pretty much. I'm looking at several different sites now and will post some locations and see what you think later. There will probably be 3 of us, so I'd like to keep the cost down to around $75 for the night.

Rats! I'll be in Illinois at the Scott AFB Air Show that weekend . Hope you have a great time Deb, and hang on in that race car. Sounds like that will be an experience of a lifetime!

Thinking about staying at the place below jayhawker...what do you think?

It's less than 6 miles from the track and is $41.99 for 2 double beds. I think that should work as long as it's not in a seedy area of town.

Not the best part of town, but then again, not the worst by far. I'd be trusting enough to stay there.
Now for the bad news....that's nowhere close to the track. It would easily take 40 minutes to drive to the speedway from this place, and I can only imagine you would be doing alot of this when you found out the hard way.
I spent the better part of my drive home tonight trying to figure out what moronic website gave you that type of information. I think I finally figured it out. I'm assuming you did a search on motels that are close to I-70 and I-435? This would be close to 70 and 435 on the Missouri side.
Here's the thing though...435 is a loop around the whole city, so it intersects 70 twice. I'd say stay in the KCK area or even Bonner Springs(just south of the speedway). I don't think you will find that low of a rate in this area, but I'll see what I can't muster up and provide a link for ya.

That would be great jayhawker...guess these sites don't tell you all the stuff you need to know. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

See if any of these work for you Deb. Just put in your info and it should give you some ideas.

Not a bad choice there Deb. Lenexa is a nice suburb south of KC. You shouldn't have any problems there, and you have great highway access. Probably about 10 minutes from the speedway. Let us know when you arrive and maybe we can meet up for breakfast or lunch(pending my brother's wedding doesn't get in the way).
