I want to give a second opinion on the fact that your 9630 Rosehill Road location is a good choice.

Like jayhawker said, as good a location as any and not far from the track.

Glad to hear that riverwind. I think that's what I'll do then. You going to be able to meet up with me somewhere along the line? That would be great if you could.

Oh...I won't Karen. I'm going a place where I can get some autographs...I'll be sure to have one with me. If I do happen to forget it though...I can always buy one in KC.

Oh darn...exactly six months after I moved away from Kansas City, too! Oh well. Yeah, the hotels by the track are very pricey, but there is a lot to do around there. The Legend's and the Nebraska Furniture Mart are cool. There's a Cabela's too but everyone's been to a Cabela's elsewhere, I'm sure.

Yeah, if a hotel says that they're in Kansas City, especially KCK, DO NOT STAY THERE. Unless, of course, it's the Fairmont on the CC Plaza, the Westin Crown Center, or the Hyatt. You'll be paying a lot more than $75 a night at those places, though. Keep in mind that the speedway is also on the far west side of the loop, so anything out east is going to be about an hour away because of traffic.

If you want some great BBQ, check out Fiorella's Jack Stack at 95th and Metcalf. You take 435 south down to the south side of town, get off at Metcalf, and go north to 95th street. My favorite BBQ and it's in a part of town whitey won't get a busted cap. Good eats.

Oh! One more thing--Superior Chevrolet is just east of I-35 at Shawnee Mission Parkway. They're a Rick Hendrick dealership and they have a lot of cool memorabilia on display and for sale, too.

Hey thanks crafty...my grandson is a chow hound, so I'll be sure to check that place out. Taking my laptop that has GPS program, so I should be good to go and not get lost.

Oh! Also, the National WWI Memorial and Museum is located at the Liberty Memorial near downtown Kansas City at Main and Pershing. They just finished remodeling the entire site and it's just brilliant. The Hallmark Crown Center and the KC Union Station and Science City are excellent places to visit if you have kids with you too. They're all located within walking distance of each other down there.

This is all in good fun, but how did I know something was going to come up about the BBQ?
Fiorella's is just a matter of opinion. My personal favorite's are Oklahoma Joe's @ 47th and Mission Rd. or Gates BBQ. It really doesn't matter where you go, as I haven't found a really bad joint in town.

Thanks for the additional info guys...it is muchly appreciated. Not sure how long we're going to be in town, but I'll take in as much as I can. As things get a little closer, I'll post more and more on here to see how many people we can get together.

Thanks again for the help.

You can't beat Oklahoma Joe's. Best BBQ in town. Gates is good for what it is, but it's not tourist-friendly or for that matter friendly at all! OK Joe's is a little harder to get to if you don't know the area around there, so that's why I suggested Jack Stack. Jack Stack is my favorite 'cause I know it's clean and the service is impeccable.

I like Arthur Bryant's, but I'd never tell a tourist to go there unless I went with them. Bad area of town and you gotta be prepared for the guy making your sandwich with a cig hanging out of his mouth!
