The country divided
 

I notice that the regions are divided up differently than alot of other car sites I have seen. Usually, there's a Mid-Atlantic which would cover something like NC, VA, MD, DE, DC. I live in the greater DC metro area - Virginia - and am a 30 minute drive to DC, MD and WV.

Not to stir the pot or anything, but Ohio is a hike from my home, as is MI and IN. The chances of something going on in VA for someone living in MI being significant are slim to none.

I would suggest another look at how the regions are divided, so the information is more relevant for each region.

I agree. I'm in the Roanoke/Lynchburg area, and regularly go to the northern Shenandoah Valley, Baltimore, West Virginia, and North Carolina for railroad excursions and Civil War reenactments. I only get to the midwest for extraordinary events like the Trainfest in Denniston, Ohio in 2005. About the farthest I go for a "car event" is the British Car show in Waynesboro, Va. "Mid-Atlantic" is much more logical for folks in our area.

I think the regions were just five states (x) ten.
That`s probably as much as can be determined, this is mostly a web site, and sometimes there`s something in another region you want to attend, go for/to it.

No matter how the regions are broken up, someone will always be on the border of a particular region and wonder why their region doesn't encompass it.

True, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be tailored to work better. Take a poll if you want, but I'm telling you from my experiences with my vette, I will never drive out to Terre Haute, Saginaw, or Toledo for a car event, and I seriously doubt those folks would drive to Leesburg, Arlington or Chincoteague. I think people who live in clusters, generally expect to do things within that cluster. I will drive to Frederick, MD (only 30 min), yet MD isn't in the same region. Heck half the people that live in MD, work in VA and vice versa (see ugly thing called Capital Beltway)

I did a poll, a couple months ago, 52% saw no need for regions, 32% felt they were just fine, the way they are.
You can include yourself in one of the existing groups.

Maybe everyone should "define" their own "region" and not let some colors dictate only where you should be looking. I understand your point about the distances involved, but still no matter how small the regions are made, someone will always fall on the cusp of their particular region and will have to look at what's happening in the bordering region to see if any events are close to them.:roll:
