Michigan - Drummond Island

Hey... I was thinking today... I've been wanting to go up to Drummond Island for a few years now, but never had. For those of you that don't know where that is, it's on the far east corner of the UP. Here's the official website:

http://www.drummondislandchamber.com/

I don't really know what is there, if much of anything, but I've always wanted to go since it only costs $12 per car to take the ferry, so we'll actually have our HHRs on the island. I'm sure there would be some cool photo ops! Like I said, not sure what all else there is to do, but it isn't very far from Whitefish Point, or Tequaminan Falls (Spelling?).

I know it would be a long drive for everyone, so I doubt many people (if any) would be interested in going. We probably wouldn't do it until next spring/summer, but I just wanted to throw the idea out there and wonder if by any chance anyone would be interested...

(FYI: It does say there is a bowling alley!)

We would be interested but can't make a commitment not knowing if we will be working or not. Get some more info and we will try our best. We have been to the Falls before. So where does the ferry leave from???

Yeah, I don't expect any definite answers yet...that's a long ways away. I just wanted to throw the idea out there for people.

The ferry leaves from De Tour Village, which is right by the island... The boat ride is really short...probably takes longer to load up and unload than the actual ride.

Yeah, it's quite a trip. Almost to Canada. We could even go up to the Soo Locks if anyone wanted. It would more than likely be next spring/summer, since the island ferry doesn't run much in the winter, and besides...it's COLD up there!!!

Been there a few times myself with a few of my ATV riding club members. Its a great place to visit but DI can be hard on vehicles that sit low to the ground,so just be CAREFUL if your operating on the Island with a HHR.

DI is best suited for 4wd trucks and the Island has many ORV [ Off Road Vehicle ] trails for 4wd trucks, 3-4 wheelers, and dirtbikes.

Other than that--not alot to see from a HHR.
