Turn signal lens burned thru
Turn signal lens burned thru
Bought a used 2006 HHR Model above base EXT? Noticed passenger side amber turn signal seems burnt thru and some white light shows. Must be mber by next Sep, causation? eazy fix or headlamp unit replacement ($85 w/o) bulbs. Parts sites say "Without RPO Code B2E ? I think this was a pkg option including special lights. Mine has fog lights and a rear spoiler and a sunroof and leather interior. Ordered a window sticker to see what options came with car in 06. Any help appreciated. Billy K
B2E was the black chrome option for special editions. EXT is not any HHR designation; LT, 2LT, LS, SS. The front turn signal bulbs act as DRL on 2006 models, The correct bulb, as listed in your Owner Manual, has a cooler wattage than the bulb that "fits" and is more common. You can look at the sticker on the glovebox door for RPO codes and look here: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gene...options-12674/
See the link in my sig before you respond "mine didn't come with an Owner Manual".

Turn signal
Thanks...burn thru was then caused by someone in 13 years replacing bulb with wrong one. Bad news is should be a 3157 KX, probable made a 3057 fit...it looks like part burned thru dripped into light fixture...seems whole thing needs replacing. That's where I see the RPO Code B2e...Light with Option Code B2E...inspection not due for a year...whilte light showing may not count on turn signals, just running lights and brake lite in Virginia.
Depot makes a replacement B2E headlight for less, if you shop https://www.ebay.com/itm/Halogen-Hea...sAAOSww6FfITtm. Don't worry about year, they are all the same.
I just now found a site that actually says 3057 not for cars that use them for DRL use 3157 instead.
You could get 3157 amber bulbs.
3057 and 3157 are physically identical, but one is slightly cooler than the other. They don't take into account bulbs that will be burning always when they say "supercedes" to the sales guy at AZ.

Don, my car is a 2006 which uses, I find, turn signal as DRL. I also dont have black grille option pkg which means if I have to replace the whole light housing I don't want one for Code B2E. What auto stores sell 3157 K in amber? Thanks
3157 LL is the listed bulb, I believe Autozone and Advance have them in amber.
or order these if you’re not in a hurry

B2E headlights are not clear like mine, did not find code in glove box just on parts store sites which differentiate with RPO Code B2E or not. If I replaced the entire unit on driver's side with B2E then headlamp backgrounds different. Virginia has this thing with a "white light" showing, indicates a broken lens with a spot of lens missing. Police stop people using the I see a white light in your rear taillight...license and registration, please. Annual state inspection sometimes let things slide, but State Police send in cars with known defects...they have pleanty and they issue the stickers. Station has to keep under lock and key, best drawer be locked when the VSP trooper comes in the station.
