After some common sense, the deodorant container may not be large enough. Balls should not be a small amount.

Old idea. Keep your eye out at thrift stores. Back in the 50's we had a tank thing that hung out the window; works by compressing and expanding air. My dad kept one in the attic through the 80's, even after car AC became a popular option. I recall driving through Death Valley in the old Studebaker on the way to a new post, it kept us alive.
There were several different models/manufacturers. Universal Fit Vintage Style Window Swamp Cooler A/C Unit (roadkillcustoms.com)

It might be a bad idea to introduce water vapor into your vehicle's interior. The cloth seats and carpet would absorb, and it could potentially get into the electronics.

Wow. If you're that worried about a small loss of gas mileage by running the AC.....
1. Sell the 16 year old HHR.
2. Get another car that gets better mileage than the HHR.
3. Drive the "new" car , use the AC and be comfortable and happy.

Some guy on the forum back ten years or so ago had one of these mounted on his HHR... Different brand I think, but same concept.

Tape it to the hood and duct the output to the cowl inlets. Once you get rolling you can turn the fan off.

Bonus -it’ll look sporty.

With that device hanging off the side window might have enough drag to reduce your fuel mileage!

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the A/C clutch disengage during hard (above normal) acceleration?
And who's complaining about 25-30 MPG?

Be sure to mount one on each side to balance the windage.

Didn't say it was a great idea... Just said somebody did it. Back when they were designed "fuel mileage" wasn't really a thing.

I would be worried more about it breaking the side window, flying back into the guy behind me and causing a 32 vehicle accident.
