We went coast to coast at least twice with one. No problems. Remember when "factory installed AC" meant a unit hanging under the dashboard?

I remember "factory installed AC" being the first thing removed if one of my cars had it... I've lived in the southwest too.

If not mistaken the HHR is the first car I've had with functioning AC.

This Could be made as a rooftop unit. They may even make them for vans/campers etc.
