Correct camshafts are different, so the sensors from the 2006 won’t see what the ECM is looking for.
the_shmoo’s 2006 2.4 doesn’t have the oil cooler as I recall. |
If the current engine has the oil cooler, and the replacement engine doesn't, you'd have to figure out what to do with the coolant hoses.
Eliminate the smaller hoses and replace the larger hose with one without the tee and replace the thermostat housing with one from a 2007 model year
You guys are great!
Wish I could give you a hand swapping engines, a nice warm couple of days in Arizona, better then the 34 degrees here!
Thank you old blue! Come on down, you would be very welcome!
Coolant hoses are attached to the engine.

Yes, and tee off to the oil cooler from the thermostat housing

This is the oil cooler style thermostat housing, this one I’d off my 2011 2.4 l , the black rubber cap can crack and leak coolant https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...27fee54f6.jpeg This is the housing from a 2007 , note there is no provision for a heat hose to go to an oil cooler or get capped off and potentially leak coolant |
:) ! looks like the way to go yo me!
