JPerrydore 05-16-2011 07:13 AM

Very nice set up! Did you cut the outlet for the 2nd tail pipe? Or did you get an aftermarket bumper?

Rod Run 05-16-2011 08:50 AM

Now we need some soundclips. maybe one at idle and then one as a drive by

Agreed! The setup looks great; also whoever did the install did excellent work on that Y-pipe. :twothumbs:

SS fan 05-16-2011 01:08 PM

That looks like a fifty fifty split at the y are you getting equal flow to both sides, We had to build a diverter in my Y to get them to flow evenly at the tips the passenger side has a longer curvier path so we sent 60 % that way. The little white clouds it makes at idle are identical. Probably don't make any diff to the car I'm just anal forgive me.:propeller:

capp002 05-16-2011 02:03 PM

thanks everyone , yes i did cut the bumper, i got the exhaust done (mbs) performance exhaust here in pasadena. i wish i could do a sound clip for ya but i have no camera sorry, im thinking about doin some high flow cats not sure yet got to do some research and thinking about doin something with that huge resonator:twothumbs: https://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/fil...1417.47.52.jpg

thanks kev i finally got it done it was a very long day:thumb::thumb:

SS fan 05-16-2011 07:35 PM

Capp002 If you love the tone and volume you have now I would suggest leaving the resonator alone, I switched mine to quiet it down and it worked, it didn't cause any restriction, just made a tone. :cowboy:

capp002 05-16-2011 07:41 PM

ss fan was it louder with it off? what did it sound like?:twothumbs:

SS fan 05-16-2011 07:46 PM

My Mufflers were pretty much straight through. I think the only thing holding in the flames was the resonator, It sounded loud. I switched it to a glass pack, sounds just like Rainman's now cept stereo. He is running 3" catback magnaflow.

ballplr 05-16-2011 07:54 PM

very nice

So, capp.... You going to enter your ride in the June "featured HHR" competition? You got a winner here if you get some good photos. :twothumbs:

June 2011 Featured Submissions

843de 05-16-2011 11:10 PM

Yeah the "Featured" deal is a barren wasteland so far, I might be entering if the stripes get done on time, but you should enter.

How did you go about cutting the bumper if you don't mind me asking? I love the look of dual exhaust and I'd love to maybe have it done on my 2010 SS.

I you don't mind me answering I used a multi Master, and dremel.

JPerrydore 05-17-2011 08:16 AM

Thanks SS! So did you make yourself a template to cut it out? Did you sand down the edges and paint the area you cut? Or just cut it out and put the exhaust up? I do like your set up as well.

I just am not exactly comfortable cutting up my bumper! lol.

SS fan 05-17-2011 08:42 AM

There are a few considerations when laying it out I used a grease/wax pencil from my granite and marble tool box to get it where I wanted then just follow the line. Because of the shape of the original hole I say it is easier to do round tips.:propeller:

Good info...I may attempt it at some point. Or I may just leave it with the single exhaust. We shall see....I have plenty of time to make up my mind.

What are you using to get the scratches out? I'm assuming your polishing them out?

Just curious to see what your using.

Hi this is my first GM vehicle in about 19 years. The vehicle I just got rid of was an american made Ford Tempo. Now I own a 2011 HHR WHITE. My Father retired from the Tonawanda engine plant on river road. Now I feel part of the family again.
