muffler?
 

Was thinking about just putting a muffler on my hhr ss. Didnt want to spend 500.00 or so on cat back or the full exhaust system. Wanted a little louder sound than stock. didnt know if this would be a good idea or not ideas or thoughts please. Also was leaning towards magnaflow

I have been thinking about this for my SS as well. I would like to have a louder sound and retain the original exhaust tip or a very nice tip. I am also thinking magnaflow, but don't have the money for a cat back and I am not sure that the whole cat back is necessary.
Any one done this and what muffler have you used?

A few guys are running a muffler delete. Basically take the car to a muffler shop, have them cut-out the big ass resonator, and weld a pipe and tip back on. It sounds pretty good and not too loud. We currently have a 2.5 inch pipe. most cat-backs for the SS are replacment 3 inch piping.

The best gains in the SS comes with changing out the Down Pipe, and giong either with a hi-flow cat, or cat-less.

If you take your car to a muffler shop, and have them put it on the lift... if they are a decent shop they will recommend something similar, and could fab it on the spot.

Before i got my turboback i cut out my muffler and it actually sounded pretty good

I'm going to try a mangaflow muffler to see how it sounds. Thought about borla but 200.00 for a muffler is alot. I know it wont inprove performance but wanted something a little louder than the stock ss sound
