55 Chevy Taillights

Has anyone seen the 55 Chevy tail lights installed on an HHR. The picture on HHR Boutique looks good. But it doesn't show how the front edge blends in. Is there an edge that would be noticable or is it a smooth transition to the HHR body?

There is an edge. Very noticeable but still looks really cool....last I saw they were still $1500.....way to expensive for my taste. For that much you could have real 55s welded in and smoothed..

I have wanted those since I bought my Panel, beforehand actually. Things just keep coming up before I have that amount of Cash for them.

A HHR Black with all windows has added them near me at a mechanics shop about 4 blocks away. So I have seen them up Close and personal. Up close at the upper quarter panel they are Bulbus, sticking out. Notice all the pics are kinda Hiding that view.

They are actual reproduction '55 chevy tail lights, with a moulded plastic type fiberglass piece as the extended quarters.

Look online hard, and you will find the actual guy who makes them in Florida I think it is, for a few hundred less than at other places.

I Own a '55 Chevy and have had it since I was in High School, I'm 50 now, thats why I want a set.

EDIT to Add: I just remembered my Son had taken pics of it on his phone, he's gonna email them to me and I'll post them for you. Not sure what shots he took, he took them over the Summer knowing I WANT a Set.

Opps sorry, no pics, my Son now thinks he Deleted them off his phone.:duh:

As soon as I see it out on the lot at the shop I will take some pics, maybe a few days until the snow melts, and not sure if it's drivin in the Winter.

Does anyone else see how these end caps appear to angle down? Look at the pinstripe on that orange demo HHR. I really wanted to go with these too but the more that I look at them the more I think that there's got to be a better way. Like "ebritt" said,a pair of steel caps welded in and finished would give the perfect look. Going to search for '55-'56 Rr Qtr repair sections!

good idea but bad execution.
1. A very large gap between the rear bumper and body of the tail lamp. I think the finger can easily fit into this gap.
2. Perhaps an optical illusion. Body of the tail light is not parallel to the lateral plane of the car's body. Slightly sticking out.
And more .. It is doubtful whether the quality of the light signal. This tail lamp is much longer than the standard. Glass further back. If use a standard socket, possible loss of light intensity.
For myself, I conclude: good idea, am feeling a commitment to style, can be used after a thorough improvement.
