Black Grille

Hi, New here and just got my 10' HHR LT less than a week ago, and like many, i just cant leave something well enough alone. I love the look of my hhr, besides the grille (and also wheels and stance, but that will come later). I found this grille on ebay, and amazon, but havent seen any pictures of a car with it installed. i didnt know if any of you had one and would like to share?? thanks!!

I never saw one before, but it looks nice. Good price too. Looks like an SS.:twothumbs:

Nice grill, it does not indicate its for an SS, so order up one, and start saving for the lowering spring kit! and wheels later!

and Welcome to the site!!

i have that exact grill..does not come with any mounting hardware like bolts, nuts etc...so u have to hit HomeDepot or wherever and pick some up, wasnt too bad. I then used some automotive superglue to hold them in there turned out nice...give me a few minuts, ill post some pictures, im at work at the moment, so its hard for me to do but I will

I'm digging the red and green wheels skyline, very festive this time of year.:twothumbs:

(But y'all can keep that freezing rain stuff, been there, done that, bought the T-shirt);)

Just love that cobalt/hhr front end......:twothumbs:

Looks like Pyro's work is ok with a freeze.......:twothumbs:

skyline26 12-22-2013 06:01 PM

ya awesome idea from pyro and his gang to make this...but man did it need a lot of work to make it fit mine! also whatever they used to bond the bumper pieces together originally would not let the paint stick..had to get it repaitned 3 times before it finally stuck! but it turned out great in the end :)
i need to get some better pictures of it though haha

Hurco 12-23-2013 05:56 PM

awesome! thanks skyline 26! diggin the car! and old blue, how much is yours lowered? i am lovin that stance! i ordered the grille yesterday. heck at that price, its less than the cost of a tank of fuel in the truck i traded in on my HHR lol i will try to post some pictures when i get it installed! thanks again everyone

firemangeorge 12-23-2013 06:36 PM

Yes. Post up some pics when you can.

When you get ready to lower yours, there are many members here that can suggest their different spring/shock setups. Lots of different combos are available and the members here can give you some 1st hand knowledge.

Installed!

Well I got it installed today. Not to bad to do, just had to drill a couple holes out bigger in the new grill. You do have to use all of the hardware from the stock grill as, but thats no big deal. I will try to put some pictures up soon, but they are calling for some stupid snowstorms where I am for the next couple days =/ anyways heres to the first step towards making my HHR look different than the bazillion other HHRs on the road!

Hey Hurco (or skyline26),
Since you each have that grille on hand, maybe one of you can answer this. The listing shows the grille to be ABS plastic.....
So, is it RIGID? Or will it flex at all? If I were to order one, I would paint the outer portion body color (charcoal like skyline's) and leave the inner mesh black. Do you see any issues getting paint to stick to it?

Thanks fellas.

it doesnt look to bad. the car definitly needs lowered, wheels and that tacky pinstripe removed, but baby steps right?! and putter, im no professional painter, but i would bet you would play hell trying to get paint to stick to this grill. it doesnt seem like it would want to stick well at all.

843de 01-06-2014 05:10 PM

:twothumbs: Looks spiffy!

Now you need a set of the blacked out Depo headlights to complete the "Sinister" look.

Hurco 01-06-2014 05:16 PM

i would like to get some! where would be a good place to order them??

843de 01-06-2014 05:27 PM

I've seen them going for fairly decent prices at Amazon and also on e-Bay.

Occasionally you find a set advertised here in the Classifieds.

Hurco 01-06-2014 05:31 PM

these are what i was looking at the other day. I havent found any cheaper anywhere else. Are these the ones you were talking about?

bassbase 01-07-2014 06:22 AM

Yes

its pretty rigid, not flexible at all..i like the quality, holding up real well! get compliments on it all the time :thumb:

skyline26 01-07-2014 07:13 AM

i couldnt get out the existing hardware off the original grill so i just went to buy new stuff that would fit the holes of the new grill...came out awesome and fits like a glove

Oldblue 01-07-2014 09:24 AM

looking very cool!!!

Hurco 01-07-2014 05:44 PM

Well i just ordered the headlights too lol. ill put some pictures up of those when they come in! (gotta love those amazon gift cards for christmas) and skyline26, i was leery about taking the hardware out of the old one too, but i believe it was a 4mm socket fit over the end of the studs and threaded right out no problem. i agree though for a cheap grille it looks good and fits well! i am happy and would recommend it for sure. thanks again for posting up those pictures! helped me make my decision to get it!
