Bowties

I removed my Bowties to sand and paint. What are you guys using to stick them back on once they are ready. Thanks..

Hi,

I believe that I read on another post that the guys are using 3M double sided tape for automotive use. How did you remove the bowties? I painted my front one by taking the grill assembly off. I haven't done the rear one yet because that was too involved to remove the bar that it is mounted to. Was it difficult to remove the bowtie?

Thanks!

Heard some folks are using the "fishing line as a saw technique" to cut through the factory double side tape. Braided fishing line would probably work best.

I just ran one of those thin utility knives all the way out and cut the bowties right off by passing the blade behind them.

Well, at least one of the three respondents answered what you actually asked.......

While I painted my bow ties without removing them, I have used an exterior automotive adhesive from NAPA for some exterior plastics on my Trailblazer. It worked great. It comes in a caulking type tube for somewhere around $10. The parts I used it on were glued about 3 years ago and are still holding up well. Look or ask for non-structural automotive adhesive.

Bowties

Its cool. The knowledge gained here is always worth reading each post. The responses make not be a direct answer to your question but I find that at some point and time I will be able to use them for something else.

I see that a lot of you guys are removing, sanding and painting the bowties, but I was thinking of removing the rear bowtie and leaving it off. My HHR is an all white lt and I was going to remove and paint the bowtie white to match, but I think leaving it off would look just as clean. Any thoughts?
