Front bumper cover

Has anyone removed or painted the lil black bumper cover/protector?

Can you remove it and paint it like any other plastic piece?

It's just an eyesore.

Molded bumper cover

I "V"ed it out slightly with a dremal/grinder, then filled it with 'bumper repair epoxy', then put a skim coat of Bondo over the whole thing, then used filler primer over that, then sanded with 320, then had my local body shop paint it
body color. I couldn't stand the 'add on' look either. Looks like a one piece bumper cover now.
I also cut off the 'tits' and used a 'curved to match' pieces of donor bumper to fill where they used to be. I also moulded the license plate mounting holes.
Now I have an entirely smooth bumper cover. I really like the looks of it now!

The first two picts are of how I cut and filled the rear bumper cover for dual ehausts.
