hhr retrofits
 

So I just ordered a retrofit set up from trs and I was wondering if any of you guys had any tips or tricks for making the install easier.

That's rather vague. Retrofit for what?

I have a morimoto kit that I'm planning to install into my hhr ss it's the h1 kit.

Ok, that clarified a bit - so morimoto is either a chef, or HID headlights. I vote for the headlights ;)

Yeah, a few have installed them, and have documented their progress. Just use the SEARCH tool at the top and enter "hid" without the quotes of course, and check out some of the threads/postings. Hopefully you will find some tips etc. as well as pictures of the finished projects.

Keep us posted on how they turn out for you. Interesting stuff.

Never heard of a retrofit headlight ??:propeller:

I chose to cut them open, and would suggest a good butyl tape to reseal them. the rest is easy.....:thumb:

Stock headlight housings?? Good luck. I tried mine as a practice set (DEPO housings on the HHR) and it was murder. I worked on those things for HOURS....

I finally gave up and just heated the DEPOs. Opened up like butter. The rest was smooth sailing.

My one tip would be to aim your projectors before you install the front of the housings back on (the clear parts). Easier to rotate the projectors if you can grab them.
Just install the headlighs (minus the clear fronts) back in the HHR, then follow the alignment steps to get the cut-off patterns right. Finally, remove the light housings from the car and reinstall the clear fronts.

So should I also invest in some depos or should I cut the stock ones open. I've been looking for a how to to do that but haven't found one. Also for those that cut theres are you having any problems with fogging.

No use a good butyl sealant, it is important.
