If I didn't already have LED tails

I might consider these.

i was just thinking of this the other day when i saw the new mustang turn signal, where they turn left and the left one "scrolls" from right to left indicating the direction.. have you seen or are aware of an LED strip for the 3rd brake light where it does that when i signal? like same single strip of LEDs but it "scrolls from right to left and left to right... i think this would be an epic mod!

PaperChaseHHR 10-04-2012 09:00 AM

i guess "sequential rear signal" is the most proper term!

solman98 10-04-2012 09:03 AM

I remember the late 60's Cougars had sequential tails and always loved that feature. I like that they starting using it again on the new Mustangs. Previous generation had it as an option.

PaperChaseHHR 10-04-2012 09:06 AM

i would LOOOOOVE to have that as a 3rd brake light. i haven't seen it yet on an HHR OFF FOR RESEARCH!!!! will post if i find anything!! link included!!

lookd like motorcycle light strips are goin to be the case.. buy two and independently wire the right side to the right tail light and the left side to the left tail light.. should work..

firemangeorge 10-04-2012 10:46 AM

IIRC. The cruise control wiring relays through the 3rd brake light. Some folks upgraded those bulbs and rendered the cruise inoperable.

Be careful if you plan to modify the 3rd brake light. You could "loose the cruise".

chefhhr 10-04-2012 11:21 AM

Cool on cars like the mustang since their tails are broken up into section...just retarded on the cobalt and malibu thats in the video. Sorry guys, just not feeling this one at all.

swerv0428 10-04-2012 12:50 PM

Heres a question then. Im sick of my third brake light decal. You cant read it at night. So i figured id just disconnect that light. I know its a law to have a third brake light but thats not an issue around here. So will it cancel out my cruise if i disconnect it?

SpaceCowboy 10-04-2012 01:04 PM

these are really cool

jerry455 10-04-2012 04:30 PM

Had sequential turn signals on the 3 Fiero's that we had. There was a company that made an easy kit to convert the 1 running light into a third brake light and into sequential tail lights. They were quite popular on Fiero's.

"Retarded???????"

WTF?? is that like saying it's 'gay' too? great choice of words.

Dracos 10-04-2012 05:37 PM

I think the effect is too subtle with a single bulb replacement, but if the multi-LED replacements (Bermuda) were animated in a similar way, that would kick ass.

the_shmoo 10-04-2012 06:10 PM

What firemangeorge said. Tried LED's in the 3rd brake light and cruise failed to work, out they came and back to normal.
I believe it requires the current draw. Not connected no draw, no cruise. Give it a try.

Offended much? Our wagons have a small tail light...same with the cobalt. You need larger tail lights to pull off sequential turn signals. Did you watch the videos in the eBay link? Sure in a round about way this is gay and ricer...but that's just my opinion.

Solman- I remember the 60's Thunderbirds having sequentials too...Always liked that :twothumbs:

I personally think any extra movement in the lights will help people see me just that much better.

Chefhhr. Really!!

skyline26 10-06-2012 10:54 AM

I still like the ipcw especially the 4 tails, much better visibility.

skyline26 10-06-2012 11:28 AM

well i dont want to spend 300-400 on lights, so $30 is good for now :)

87silver 10-06-2012 11:36 AM

Although this product is certainly appealing, I don't think it's worth the $$, but everyone has their choices. If it's for you, then go for it.

Maybe if I only owned 1 or 2 vehicles or if they were $20 a pair, I'd see it differently, but when you own 6 and you're not a millionaire, you have to choose your purchases carefully for each one. My current car project is not with my HHR SS, but IMO money well spent on it was the TTR rear sway bar. This type of thing is an economical and effective mod.

Hey just not my thing. Maybe they look better in person, but the videos they have provided makes them look pretty cheesy. We are entitled to our personal opinions.

I just bid on a set....A subtle difference, but I think it does improve viability but IMHO unless designed for LEDs the LEDs do look 'Ricer' to most peeps..:skull:

The Mustang lights are cool. The T-Bird was first and I've had two 60's Cougars.

I don't judge in any case...Do what pleases YOU! First rule in having your ride a personal experience...:thumb:

Hey brother, you nailed it on the head! Gotta do what you like, not what pleases everyone else.

the four taillights ARE cool.........and after seeing them, here's a thought:rig them to alternate when used.....kind of like a RR crossing!
of course, that could induce seizures........:roflol:

sleeper 10-06-2012 10:46 PM

I just like the idea that some are still making stuff that will work on hhrs'...

celblazer 10-07-2012 12:51 PM

I might try these. $40 isn't bad for a pair. I built a setup for my 89 Shelby and loved it. This may not be a obvious but we will see how it looks.

Here is the Shelby :
