the grandson was playing with the sunroof buttons until i told him to stop, but the drivers side button, i believe it opens the rear of the roof, would close the roof, then open it again. I am thinking it is in the open position, and something is keeping it from closing. SO maybe it is not a dented roof (??) it looks like it comes down about 1/2 inch or so, then stops and goes back up. Keep in mind that it was taped when I got the HHR, and I did seal it completely around the outside edge so ti might not be able to move. Still waiting for warmer weather but it may be an adjustment issue...

Pull the fuse for the sunroof. It doesn’t affect anything else.

Well the tape on the sunroof is failing so I figured I should work on it before it snows or something... I was able to openthe rear of the sunroof and get a broom handle in through the side of the roof and pry gently on the rear edge of the roof panel to raise it enoufgh to be flush. Took a few times to get it right. The rear gasket doesn't meet the metal opening and since I don't use it anyhow, I re-taped it afterwards so it should be good for another 6 months or so. It does look more flush tan before so I am satisfied for now.

well 99.8% of the time I am the only one in the car, and I am always the one driving so it should be oK. It also sits outside all year in the direct sunlight. I don't even have a driveway so it gets the worst of the weather.

I mention it because those buttons are a great imaginary opening the door for a rocket to mars ! Your grandson could still open the sunroof

He know not to mess with Grandpa's toys without asking first! i have too many fun toys that can hurt if he doesn't know how to work it. He is aware of that. Not your average 9 year old.
