Wiring found behind fog light grills

I was recently doing some maintenance on my 2010 LS half-panel HHR. which required removing the splash shields on the passenger side. I noticed factor wiring with a plug behind the fog light delete grille. I checked the driver's side and same wiring w/ male plug there also. I don't recall any switch around the dash area to operate a set of fog lights. Of course, that got me to thinking about putting in a set of fog lights. RockAuto has a set that is supposed to be a direct replacement and snap into the OEM fog light grill detents.
Can anyone shed some insight into why these connectors were provided by the factory for? I've read some post in the forms regarding installing fog lights with info that the BCM must be reprogramed by the Dealer or replaced by a BCM from an LT model?

If you pull the "waterfall" off you will most likely find a connector laying around. If so, all you need is a set of lights. a switch and programming, maybe a relay and fuse (check the under hood fuse box).

The button would live next to the passenger airbag warning light. The switch plugs into the dash adapter. #4 switch

Thanks for the diagram and info on installing fog lights. The diagrams always speak volumes!

Post some pictures of your wires under the bumper.

How much to program the lights when connected ?

Usually 1 hour labor.

fog lights

I went back and looked at my dash again, low and behold there is a button for the fog lights. This is very strange, to say the least! Wiring for fog lights, a switch for the fog lights but no fog lights. I have taken some pictures today as requested by Old Blue of the wiring and will try to post those soon!

Perhaps the PO removed them , strange.

Well. If you have the switch in the dash, then probe those wire plugs for power.
Crank the car, low beam lights on, fog light switch on, then probe the plugs with a test light or multi-meter. You may get lucky and your car may already be programmed to add the fog lights.
