Upgrading rear view mirror
I have a 2011 LT this was originally a rental car. It has the rear view mirror with on star and manual dim. Is it possible to upgrade my mirror to one with on star, auto Dim and compass without having to do any wiring. I found an GNTX 511 on eBay that says it fits my year HHR . I know on rental cars there are sometimes options omitted. Thinking maybe mine might have the harness to fit the better mirror

I was able to upgrade my mirror in my 07. It did not have on star or auto dimming.
Mine required me to run a power wire and change the connector.
I would be willing to bet sense you already have on star you could up grade with out any modifications.
How many pin connector is on your mirror now?

Here is a how to from the cobalt forums. Interior How To Install An Auto Dim Rear–view Mirror - Cobalt SS Network
I didn't find this until after I installed mine. I just found the connector and played with it until it all worked.
I wish I would have made a diagram that I could share. Sorry.

The cars wiring to the old mirror just used 3 wires. 12 battery, ground and the door pin switch for the map/ dome lights.
The mirror I got from ebay turned out to have led map lights in it. That was a added pleasant surprise.
