All true + the roof and walls protect the structure from the elements.

I hope we here from people in Indiana. I think I read some where that a county in Indiana has the most covered bridges per mile.

Here are a few Vermont Covered Bridge pix that I missed the first time around.

Worrall Bridge in Rockingham and Williamsville Bridge in Newfane are both undergoing restoration.

Random Bridge pix

I figure some pix from Madison Boulder in NH would fit in here.
Check the artwork ontopatharock.

Doesn't say anything about weight limits... I have an Aunt in FLA that might cause some damage....

Took the wife and one of her friends with me today.

Pepperell Mass, brand spankin new this summer

Totally overbuilt bridge should last a few years and we whizzed near a stupid looking bear in NH

We covered about 200 miles and visited 5 covered bridges.
We had fun and the wife didn't even b!tch too much when we got to two dead ends (over a mile up dirt mountain roads).
The first had signs saying "No Trespassing", "Trespassers will be violated" and "If you can read this sign you're in range"

I'm super impressed with the last one, it's so totally overbuilt.
I was pissed when it was the first one I drove to last year and it was just the stone supports.

It was well worth the wait and it's only 3 towns away
