06 hhr p0300 & p0449
Hello, new here. Need help with a recently acquired 06 HHR.
The car was my sisters who is going out of the country for a year and gave us her car, while its a really fun little car to drive and I am appreciative of that after having it a few days I think its laughing at me. Fixed 2 interior door handles, replaced the Butyl patch to stop water from flowing into the passenger compartment and will replace the blower motor and resistor this weekend. I think the design team for this car needs serious mental evaluation.
With that out of the way its going to need an inspection in the next few months, the CEL light is on, she said its been on for a while now but hasn't bothered anything. I took it to the auto store and they pulled codes P0300 and P0449. I have researched the codes but where its throwing 2, I was hoping it could be a single related issue.
I am not a mechanic but have repaired or replaced enough parts on cars that I am confident in doing the work however I haven't owned or worked on any thing as new as this out side of brakes, etc. I am more accustom to cars from the 60s-80s as that's what I have always liked. To be honest, these newer cars while great for fuel efficiency, creature comforts etc scare me off and was hoping someone could assist me with diagnosing these codes.
Thanks for your time and God bless.

It is possible that the EVAP vent valve is causing the random misfire.
That is the one next to the gas tank. Real easy to replace if you can roll around and get leverage under the car. Be careful of the rubber gaskets, they are important.
Check your PM.
