09 ls panel oil leak
Hello, my 09 hhr has an oil leak. I know it's on the passenger side. I cleaned that side real good and spent most of the day looking for a drop. But of course nothing. Anybody got any ideas? I was thinking crankshaft pulley seal, or timing cover. But like I said Not even a drip. Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. Read my thread. It is actually pretty easy fix. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...il-leak-60820/ We are supposed to replace the crankshaft pulley bolt since it is TTY (Torque To Yield). I hate TTY bolts. I made a tool to hold the pulley while I loosened and tightened the crankshaft bolt. If you reuse the original bolt, you take a chance of snapping it when you try to torque it to 75ft lbs + 75 degrees. I used a pvc coupling (think it was 1.5”) to tap in the new seal. Autozone and O'reilys have a free tool loaner program. Here is a pic of the tool I made. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...5adbbcb3ee.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...05cdbf811e.jpg And here is a picture of my weenie dog (Ozzy), he has a rawhide stick in his mouth, but he looks like he is smoking a cigarette. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...ab98c299fe.jpg |
Thank you very much guppy. I've read your thread. Seems like an easy fix. Couldn't hurt anyway. I'm gonna give it a shot. And funny pic of your dog. Thanks
