Unhappy 2006 HHR 2.2L code P0717 P0700

My 2006 HHR 2.2L doesn't have the VVT,, it has 62,000 miles.it is shifting hard in first and second gear. It starts to do that once I've been driving for a while. Once I stop and turn of car it goes away... The codes that come out are P0717 and P0700. I took it to a shop and they said it's needs a new transmission control module, another shop said it need an iput speed sensor... Has any one had this problem ? How did you fix your car?

Welcome!

P0700 Transmission Control System TCS Malfunction

P0717 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal OBDII Engine Light Trouble Code | Engine-Codes.com

When I put these 2 links together, I think "check the wire connection to the transmission and TCM FIRST". Then think "input speed sensor".

Anyone that suggests a NEW TCM without doing any other diagnostics should be avoided!

And those pesky loose ground wires, check them for burnt insulation and corrosion
The connector to the TCM should be checked for loose or damaged pins
Disconnect the neg terminal on the battery before you check these wires to avoid a short.
While you're at it check the under hood fuse box to ensure the halves are tightly connected and no loose wires , fuses or relays.

Would the speed sensor be in the transmission or on the outside of the transmission?

From my research on the old inter webs it would be a safe bet the wiring harness to the TCM is loose so I would check that first then go from there, even with a code reader the disruption of information from the transmission to the TCM would set off the code.
I just repaired my nieces 2006 Mazda 3 , the driver's door lock wouldn't activate, her friendly mechanic quoted her at least 3 hours to diagnose the problem, quested it must be either the switch or the relay or both!
The problem was she had locked her keys in her car somehow and the triple A dude slim jimmyed the passenger door open and pulled the wiring loose on the door lock, 20 minutes to pull door panel see loose wire reinsert into lock secure the wiring with a zip tie, replace door panel!
She took me out to Starbucks for a coffee, the point is sometimes the issue isn't what the computer thinks it is

I will check out the wiring and see if anything is loose.

Looks like the INPUT speed sensor is under the end cover.

The OUTPUT speed sensor is the easy to get to one on th he tail.

Welcome!

What does that bulletin have to do with a 2006 HHR, other that the transmission is the same?
The closest car it applies to is a 2004 Chevy Classic with a 3.8 L V6.
It is hard enough to get technicians to look at TSBs that are vehicle specific.

The solution offered in it was suggested here in post #2 (3 months ago). The OP has not returned to relate any progress.
