2007 Chevy HHR LT - Steering Knuckle

So my passenger side steering knuckle snapped this morning in the parking lot at work. This seems to be a hard part to get your hands on quickly unless you want to pay alot of money.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these parts that's not going to set me back nearly $500?

You can clearly see it's broken.

You're going to need some struts too. Wow. Where has this car been driven ? That's some serious corrosion.

You can Google the part number 25836293

Here's one on eBay, pretty reasonable, https://www.ebay.com/p/654979768

Also, contact member, Hellsrotrod, he has many HHRS that he is parting out.

car-part.com shows a bunch in my area at scrapyards for $40 each.

I picked one up a few years ago at a local scrapyard for $45.

Looks like the same part for cobalt and ion according to car-part finder.

The steering knuckle is a very strong part. Mine broke when I was hit hard directly in the wheel from the side by another car. It usually breaks in the same spot - between the two strut bolts, like yours did.

I suspect that your strut was flexing a lot in the area where it attaches to the knuckle due to severe corrosion, causing the break.

Like firemangeorge said, change that strut (and check the other side).

Amazing that the caliper has no rust. Must take care of the brakes, anyway.

Plenty of rust on the rotor, though.
