2007 hhr traction control problem ruining my life
 

Im so upset by the issue of the traction control. The light came on once and change some spark plugs. The light never came back on. It will register ice possible when there is none. Now its winter time and when it snows my car is rendered useless. Im constantly sliding everywhere nd if i apply the brakes it doesnt allow me to. It has a heavy grinding feeling and im so scared to drive it when it snows. I dont have the money to even look into tue issue.. cpme with being a single mother of 5. Please someone help me with this issue.

Hmmm...Where to start?

If the "Service ESC" message or Check Engine light were displayed at one time, but they haven't recurred since, that would indicate that any faults in the Traction Control system were remedied.

But to be 100% certain, take your HHR to your local auto parts store and have them "pull the codes", they'll know what to do and almost every auto parts chain will pull the codes for free.

If any trouble codes are found stored in the vehicle's memory, they will give you a printout with the code numbers. Post any codes in this thread so we can see if your HHR has a serious problem.

The "Ice Possible" message will appear any time the ambient outdoor temperature is 32 degrees or lower, it's perfectly normal.

A "heavy grinding" noise or feeling when braking is a pretty good indicator that your brakes are worn out or require immediate attention, you need to have them checked tomorrow. You could have a serious accident with brakes in that shape, either hurting yourself and family or another motorist.

HHR's aren't at their best in the snow, so have your tires checked when they check your brakes, they might be worn to the point of being useless this time of year.

Having a limited budget means prioritizing things, so brakes and tires first, then deal with any other faults second.

welcome to the site. sounds like there is a lot going on here. I think 843 advise should get you on the right track. what happens if you turn off the traction control with the button on the dash?
