2008 2LT 2.4L Front Wheel Bearing

Not sure if this has been asked or answered (my search skills suck) nor am I sure if this is the right sub forum but would anyone have the OEM part # for a 2008 2LT 2.4L Front Wheel Bearing with ABS? Is there anything special about swapping out this part or is it pretty straight forward? Can you recommend a parts store for the bearing? Partstrain? Amazon? Ebay? Etc?

Thanks

I replaced one on mine...found on ebay for $75 shipped (non-abs) from Dearborn Axle. If I recall, the ABS version was close to the same price if not a bit cheaper. Go to ebay and type in HHR hub assembly. Should come right up. User name was dearbornaxle (i think). Shipped very quickly (free shipping!) and I've been very satisfied with the results. Had it on about 2 months now.

As for installation, it's as simple as it looks. Make sure you have a HUGE socket for the castle nut. Hope this helps.

Here is a pic of the hub and assembly/disassembly:

I have borrowed the socket for the axle nut from like Autozone in the past. I imagine I will do the same again. I image I will need to find a big "cheater bar" again as well.

once you get the caliper/brake parts off, the castle nut and three bolts in the back is it. You will need to pull on the strut a bit and/or tap the axle out. Easy peasy.

The easiest way to change a hub bearing on a 2008 is to have the dealer do it if you have less than 100K. It's covered by power train warranty.

Will the dealer replace the bearings if you have it lowered with 18" rims?

Depends on the dealer and your relationship with them.

Sorry about the hijack, but I've got to ask a quick question.

Really? My '06 has the 100k power train on it via promotion from GMAC in 2008 when I bought it. The issue is that it appears one of my ABS sensors is failing. Would that still be covered on the power train warranty?

Many thanks!

Yes it would be covered, since there is not a labor code for the sensor, but their is for the hub.
