2009 ambient air reading doesn't move?
Wondering where this magic sensor is located on my 2009 so I can replace it, IF I can replace it. The part is like $20, my dealer I had used for repairs wants several hundred dollars to replace it, but I know they are generally about $500 over the cost of doing easier repairs myself (like the master window switch on the driver's side, $48 part, 10 minute repair, they wanted 10 times that to do it.) I just need to know for sure, I was told "it was behind the driver's side tire", but am reading it is either behind the passenger side headlight or else right where a fan can blow on it (which makes it seem that it really isn't reading outside air temp to me!). It's a 2009 bog standard LS money pit. The interior panel reading rarely changes from about 58 or 60 degrees, even though it is now well into the 80s here, and the temperature does change as I drive from my house to rehearsal about 20 miles away. Also, would altitude changes affect it? I live at 1850 and the drive just down to the freeway is 800 feet in 5 minutes.
Thanks for any help!

The temp reading sensor has some weird algorithm it goes through before the reading changes. I know on mine it usually won't change until I've driven about 6 miles.
If you do want to replace the sensor, it's located by the passenger side frame rail on your year car. The pic below shows where it is located under that flat metal piece circled in the picture. (Yes, I have a SS but your's is in the same location)

I don't remember when they changed the location; Mitchell is wrong. I know 2011 it was mounted below the driver side of the radiator on the bumper cover in plain sight; you can see it when you open the hood and look down.
Either way it looks like a terminated wire. It just pulls out of the socket. No magic involved after you locate it.
