2010 with 28k miles got PO496 evap. code today

My 2010 with 28k miles got PO496 evap. code a few days ago. It coughed and sputtered upon starting and the engine light came on. AutoZone told me it was probably crappy ethynol gas and sold me a bottle of HEET. I reset it by disconnecting the neg. battery terminal and filled my tank with premium gas. Well that didn't work, usually it starts fine but sometimes it sputters and the engine light came back on. Then when I filled up with gas again today it had a hard time starting, I had to push the pedal to the floor while cranking like it was flooded. I took it back to Autozone and this time wrote down the code #, same code as a few days earlier PO496.
I read the post on PO496 code and assume I have a bad valve, but before I start replacing parts and breaking others, i'm thinking it should be covered by warranty? Anybody know if there is a deductible on GM factory warranty for small stuff?
Any suggestions?....My poor baby is sick : (

2010 with less than 36000 miles under warranty.........did you top off too much while refueling before problem started?

Ok, so you have a 1 year old car, and under 36k miles. It's completely under bumper to bumper warranty. no deductible

Take it to the dealer.

If it doesn't start, call GM for a tow.

Sounds like you may have top off the gas tank when filling.....and "crammed" a little to much. Charcoal cannister problem maybe???

Like other respondents say, take it to the dealer....but they MAY NOT do it under warranty.

Yeah Snoopy, thats what i'm worried about!!.....I never top it off too much, can't afford it!, but I have let it go until the low fuel light comes on....a few weeks ago tho......I unhooked the neg cable again and reset it, no light yesterday and she started fine this morning as usual, but light came back on a few feet down the road.

I bought it with 25k miles a few months ago, an ex-rental.....I have noticed a slight bucking sometimes when I let off the accelerator, wondering if its just an ECOTECH thing or could it be related and no the light comes on because the problem is getting worse?

Its a very slight bucking and happens about 40mph, not hammering, just driving normal.

Most likely I will take it to a dealer, probably call first and see about the warranty tho.

Still want to figure it out on the site so others may benefit : )

After a week mine got to a point it would start real hard every OTHER time.....acted like it was running on one cylinder or something!....only for a few seconds tho, then it would belch black smoke and run fine.
