2010 HHR, Cruise control not working, Engine sputtering/ENG PWR REDUCED

Hey everyone!
I have two issues with my 2010 HHR.
So, November 7th while driving on an interstate, my cruise control turned off and hasn't worked since.
Now, (this last tuesday, the 3rd) I had started my car and was letting it warm up and after about 5-10 minutes it started dinging. I looked up at my dash and it said "SERVICE ESC SERVICE TRACTION ENG PWR REDUCED". The engine was sputtering. After turning it off and back on, it went back to working normally. It's happened several more times sincr then. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Extra Info:
I've needed to change the oil, but been busy
The engine is brand new, replaced back in May
Engine light has been on due to needing the gas cap replaced, so unsure if this would have made that come on

Certain warning lights and Check Engine Lights (CEL’s) will DISABLE the cruise control. Fix what is wrong and Cruise will return.
You need to check the codes again. I doubt that a gas cap is the issue.

Alright. Currently having to find the OBDII to scan codes. Hoping for an easy fix

That and check the third brake light, all 4 bulbs must be working or the cruise control won’t engage

I had read that on here somewhere. Is that true? I'll have to get those replaced.
I had checked the rear middle lights (the ones inbetween the two side lights, not the one on top of the hatch) and they weren't turning on whether I braked, reversed or turned on hazards. I'll get those fixed. Thanks!

You
test them engine running

1) Don’t drive it. Don’t start it.
2) Check the oil level. Report results here.
3) Scan for codes. Report the numbers only here. Don’t bother with descriptions.

What trouble lights have been lit for how long? Why the new engine? Really new, rebuilt, or salvaged used. How many miles on the car? How many miles on the engine?

Do answer all questions asked in the thread you created.

Sorry to all for late response.
Check engine light and tire sensor light have been lit since I got the car in January.
New engine because timing chain slipped, really new.
Miles on car, 162,883.
Miles on engine, 20,857.
Oil level is low. I've needed to change it for a bit now.

Codes: there are 9, 3 are repeated and 2 simply say "N/A"
In order, they are:
P0449
P0455
C0301
P0974
N/A
P0974
N/A
P0449
P0455

**EDIT**
I rescanned with the engine started and it gave these codes in order:
P0449
P0455
P0700
P2135
P2271
P0449 P
P0455 P
P0700 P

I thought my reverse lights were out, but they arent. All tail lights are working.

firemangeorge Dec 16, 2024 05:36 AM

All BRAKE light bulbs must be working. Including the CHMSL. (3rd brake light) Reverse lights don’t matter for cruise control.

There are no PO445 or C0301 codes listed for the HHR system.
