Ac compressor blew all 134A

I have a 07 HHR 2 4, my ac compressor had been only engaging intermittently, starting a month ago. So I started her up one hot afternoon hit the AC button, & it engaged! Jumped out to check pressure low side, loud pop, & all 134A & PAG was expelled! Was only running 2min from cold. Is there a pressure release valve that resets or does it need replaced?

No, can't see any blown lines or connections just PAG oil all over "skid" plate by compressor.

After I put my new engine in, I took it to my mechanic to recharge the AC. Some time shortly after, I noticed a leak. Here's the thread. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/prob...pressor-63053/

This was no leak, something popped loudly & shot out a refrigerant cloud that filled my garage & driveway.

That shouldn’t be hard to find, maybe the compressor blew an o ring , maybe the condenser is road debris damaged.

Did you miss the part that it was a relief valve? That's often what relief valves do, blow.

Yes, I did, that was my original thinking, just didn't know if it was one time blowout valve or if it was like a pressure relief valve on a hot water heater. Thanks

You say it's been operating only occasionally, sometimes that's a symptom of an overcharge. Has the refrigerant been topped off recently?
