AC water drain in cowl?

Does anyone have any detailed info on unclogging the drain in the cowl and or checking that stuff?

I thought it was water sloshing but hte water is apparently just the coling system but I was looking to make sure everything was open and clear so I dont get to much nasty smellin stuff building up this summer.

thx

I think the cowl drains are at the back of the front wheel wells about 2/3rds of the way up.

Wather slosh in the dash is usually air in the cooling system or low coolent. You might check that as it is common on the HHR.

Best to park on a hill with the nose up as this helps make the cap higher and helps purge the air out of the system. Once topped off make sure the overflow is full and it will help top off any more air that is purged. It can take a few miles to clear up.

delta, the pic is my '06 looking straight down on the passenger side with cowl and the rubber patch thingy removed. The opening on the back/top is the air intake for the HVAC system and the light blue is part of the blower motor fan cage.

The black oval thingy was pretty full of leaves, pine needles, maple tree seeds and in general 91,000 miles worth of "stuff". I vacumed it all out and replaced the byutal rubber patch with aluminum so I won't have to deal with it again. I belive the small black inlet on the left is also a drain but there was nothing stuck in that one. I don't know where the outlets are for either drain but they're somewhere under and behind the engine.
